Many friends and family have put their heads together and have decided to donate their time and resources in an effort to raise funds to assist the family of Chris Bailey, who recently passed in a tragic airplane accident last month by hosting the “Chris Bailey Memorial Golf Tournament and Fundraiser.”
“Chris was one of those types of guys who was always willing to help a friend in need,” said close friend John Tinsely. “We all know that if this horrible tragedy had happened to anyone he would have been one of the first ones to step up and try to help in any way he could.”
The tournament will be held on May 27 at the Homer Golf Course, who donated the facility. It is going to be an 18-hole two man/woman/co-ed team format. The entry fee is $100 per person. Each player will also be able to purchase two mulligans for $10 each. One “mulligan” for use on each nine hole round and a $10 gimmick hole. Tee times are set for 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. due to the number of people who have already registered.
“We are going to have to limit the tournament to 54 (2 man teams) and it is filling up fast,” said Tinsley.
Each player will receive a Callaway Chrome Soft Triple Track golf ball engraved with Chris’s CB Marine logo on it. Golfballs.com is providing more balls, poker chips, gift cards and a ditty bag for each participant.
“I am going to donate these as I had already purchased some to give to Chris. Ironically, I received them in the mail yesterday,” said Tinsley. “As many of you who play golf and know me, I collect a lot of golf balls while I play and I wash and reuse them or give them to friends. I always saved the Callaway Triple Track balls to give to Chris as he really liked them because they matched his putter and he felt it helped him putt better.”
They will also be hosting a silent auction. Even though this is a golf tournament they plan to sell at least 1,000 food plates, t-shirts and hats.
All proceeds that are raised from the tournament and the fundraiser will be donated directly to the family.
They are currently looking for volunteers who would like to contribute their time to help make this event a success.
“If you can’t help donate your time or don’t wish to participate in any of the activities but still want to donate, we will also take any monetary contribution you are willing to give,” said Tinsley.
