A bond hearing was held on Tuesday, July 11, at the Claiborne Parish Courthouse for the four juveniles that were arrested last week in connection to the death of Homer High School football standout Ja’ Kerion Calome.
The four juveniles were arrested last Thursday, July 6, by Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office personnel for obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice regarding Calome’s death. Their bond was set for $1,000 each. The next hearing will be held on August 9 at 3 p.m.
Since the arrested will be attending juvenille court, it will not be open to the public.
Kenshawn Carter, 18, of Homer was also arrested for obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice on July 6. He has not had a hearing as of yet.
The shooting occured on Thursday, June 22, at 229 West Third Street in Homer. Calome suffered from a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken by private vehicle to Homer Hospital, but was later airlifted to Ochsner LSU Health hospital in Shreveport where he succumbed to his injuries early Friday morning, June 23.
CPSO’s investigation is ongoing. Further charges and arrests are pending.
