Claiborne Parish students get a ‘Jump Start’

Approximately 55 Claiborne Parish students participated in Louisiana’s Jump Start program over the summer.

Jump Start is an innovative career and technical education program that prepares high school students to better lead productive adult lives. This program equips them with the capability of continuing their education after high school while earning certifications in high-wage career choices.

Jump Start serves as an elective path for students who are interested in pursuing a university-prepatory diploma

Claiborne Parish students had an opportunity to earn certifications in welding, drone operation, certified nursing assistant programs, electronic medical recording and construction. They not only get experience in these fields, but they also earn money while doing so.

The students are not the only ones to reap the benefits of this program. Schools receive the same accountability grade credit for preparing students for careers in high-demand job  sectors as they do for students who achieve top academic honors.
