Upcoming Events at the Claiborne Parish Library

The Claiborne Parish Library will be hosting several free programs for the public at the main library in Homer this fall.

A special guest will appear at the library on Friday, October 13. Smokey Bear and the U. S. Forest Service will present a Fire Safety Event from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Join the famous bear for story time, fire safety information and photos with Smokey.

Don Kimmel, Financial Wellness Officer, for Gibsland Bank & Trust will present Understanding Credit on Tuesday, October 24, 6:00 p.m. Mr. Kimmell has presented several seminars on personal finance topics at the library in the past few months. Attendees of his past programs leave with information they can understand to control their personal finances in a money-saving, secure manner. This workshop promises attendees the same! Everyone has some type of credit woe or issue, everyone needs more information on how to manage their credit and boost their credit score. Hot dogs and chips will be provided for a snack supper.
The library’s annual Fall Craft Fair is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, at the main library from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. This popular event gives vendors an opportunity to present their handmade and homemade items before the holidays. Interested vendors should contact Gina Howell at the Claiborne Parish Library (318-927-3845) or come into the library and fill out a registration form. Registration fee is $10 per booth.

A special treat is scheduled for Saturday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m. when Estelle Brown will present Memories of Elvis. Estelle was a member of the Sweet Inspirations, an R & B group who sang back-up vocals for Elvis Presley and many other well-known artists.

To reserve your seat, please call the library at 318-927-3845. More information may be found on the library’s Facebook page. Each program is free and open to the public. The library is located at 909 Edgewood Drive in Homer.
