The Homer Pelicans (5-2) took a break from district action and traveled across the Arkansas border and take on Arkansas 2A powerhouse Prescott Curley Wolves (7-1).   Prescott is currently ranked in the top five in Class 3A in Arkansas.  Prescott took the 31-14 win over Homer on Friday night.

Homer’s scores came from two touchdown passes from Zyan Warren to Katrevick Banks.  Warren finished 12 for 19 for 158 yards and two touchdowns and an interception  Banks was the top receiver making 4 receptions for 82 yards and two touchdowns.  Gregory Williams passed the century mark on yards and finished 101 yards on 19 carries.

Tymarrion Knowles kept the defense pumped with 7 solo tackles.  Spencer Dunn added 5 solo tackles.

Prescott put the first points on the board taking the early 7-0 lead.  Banks snatch an interception and the next play reaches the end zone on a touchdown pass from Warren.  Homer held on for the 8-7 first-quarter lead.

Homer’s defense held back and only allowed a field goal by the Curley Wolves which gave them a 10-8 lead

Homer was a little too close for comfort for Prescott and added two touchdowns in the third quarter to expand their lead to 24-8.

Prescott continued to dominate in the second half and added another score to 31-8.  Homer would end quietly as Banks and Warren connected one more time but came up short in the end.

Homer will look to bounce back with a road trip to Arcadia on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
