Piney Hills Master Gardeners announce 2026 Master Gardener Training Program

Residents interested in improving their gardening knowledge and creating healthier landscapes are invited to take part in the 2026 Louisiana Master Gardener Program, hosted by the Piney Hills Master Gardeners in partnership with the LSU AgCenter.

Assistant County Agent John Monzingo says the program is designed for gardening enthusiasts who want to better understand plant selection, soil health, pest control, and proper growing practices for the region.

The Louisiana Master Gardener Program provides in-depth horticulture education and hands-on learning to help participants become more confident and successful gardeners.

Classes will begin June 16 and continue through September 8, including a graduation program at the conclusion of the course. Sessions will be held weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Webster Parish Extension Office.

The cost to participate is $165, with an early bird discount of $25 available for those who enroll by April 20. The final enrollment deadline is May 22.

Those interested in enrolling or seeking additional information may contact John Monzingo at 318-927-3110 or 318-371-1371, or by email at Jmonzingo@agcenter.lsu.edu.

Organizers encourage anyone who has ever questioned plant placement, soil health, or pest issues to consider joining the program as a way to grow both knowledge and gardening success across Claiborne Parish and surrounding communities.
