Have you ever stood in your yard and wondered, “Am I planting the right plant for my area?” or “Is this the best location for these flowers or shrubs?” Maybe you’ve asked yourself what kind of weed, insect, or disease is affecting your plants—or how to control it. Many homeowners are also unsure how to interpret soil sample results or make their landscapes healthier and more attractive.
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, the Piney Hills Master Gardeners invite you to join the Louisiana Master Gardener Program.
Developed by the LSU AgCenter, this educational program helps gardening enthusiasts gain a deeper understanding of horticulture and best practices for plant care. Participants receive research-based training from LSU AgCenter specialists and extension agents, covering topics such as soils, plant selection, pest management, lawn care, trees and shrubs, vegetables, and ornamental gardening.
The 2026 Louisiana Master Gardener Class will be held at the Webster Parish Extension Office and will run from June 16 through September 8, including a graduation program. Classes meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The cost of the program is $165, with an early bird discount of $25 for those who enroll by April 20. The enrollment deadline is May 22.
This program is ideal for anyone who enjoys gardening and wants to learn more—whether you are a beginner or an experienced gardener looking to sharpen your skills and give back to your community.
