Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office announces public meeting on 2026 millage rates

The Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced a public meeting to discuss and adopt the 2026 millage rates for the Claiborne Parish Law Enforcement District.

According to a public notice issued by Sheriff Sam Dowies, the meeting will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Conference Room at the Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office, located at 300 Highway 146 in Homer.

The meeting agenda includes routine opening procedures, approval of minutes from the previous meeting held on June 24, 2025, and consideration of new business related to the adoption of the 2026 millage rates for the Law Enforcement District.

Officials reported there is no old business scheduled for discussion.

Millage rates are used to determine property tax assessments that help fund public services, including law enforcement operations and public safety initiatives throughout the parish. The annual adoption process allows governing authorities to establish tax rates necessary to support services and operations for the upcoming year.

The meeting is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend and observe the proceedings.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals requiring special assistance to participate in the meeting are asked to contact Marla Rowe at 318-927-4807 prior to the meeting to make appropriate arrangements.

The Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office stated that the public meeting will provide an opportunity to formally address the proposed millage rates and conduct the necessary business of the Law Enforcement District.
