The Claiborne Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Program is looking for volunteers who are passionate about mentoring youth and helping grow one of the parish’s most successful educational programs.

Whether you’re an experienced shooter, hunter, competitive marksman, or simply someone who enjoys working with young people, organizers say there is a place for you on the team.

Volunteer coaches play a vital role in teaching firearm safety, building confidence, encouraging personal growth, and helping young participants develop valuable life skills through the 4-H Shooting Sports program.

According to Claiborne Parish 4-H, becoming a coach offers the opportunity to:

Make a positive impact on local youth

Teach safe firearm handling and responsibility

Support personal growth and leadership

Build confidence in young participants

Join a dedicated team of volunteers

Volunteer Requirements

Individuals interested in becoming a certified coach must:

Be at least 21 years of age

Complete the standard adult screening process

Successfully pass a background check

Complete all required training

Enjoy working with and mentoring youth.

No prior coaching certification is required.

Program organizers say the greatest current need is for Shotgun Coaches, and they encourage interested volunteers to get involved.
