Summer heat will remain firmly in place across Claiborne Parish through early next week, with daytime highs climbing into the upper 90s and only a slight chance of weekend rain, according to the National Weather Service.
The warmest days of the forecast are expected to be Wednesday and Monday, when temperatures will reach 98 degrees. Aside from a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, residents can expect mostly sunny skies and hot conditions throughout the forecast period.

With several days of hot weather ahead, the National Weather Service encourages residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses by staying hydrated, limiting strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, and taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
Residents are also reminded to check on elderly neighbors, young children, and others who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat, and to never leave children or pets unattended inside a parked vehicle, where temperatures can rise to dangerous levels within minutes.
While a few showers or thunderstorms are possible on Saturday, no widespread rainfall is expected, and hot summer conditions are forecast to continue through early next week.
