The LSU AgCenter will host a “Soils to Harvest” educational program Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Hill Farm Research Station in Homer.

The event, centered around the theme “Healthy Soils. Bountiful Harvests. Stronger Communities,” will feature presentations on cool-season herbs and vegetables, fall color and food preparation.

The program will be held at the Hill Farm Research Station, 11959 LA-9 in Homer. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with presentations beginning at 9 a.m.

Four speakers are scheduled to participate in the program.

Mark Wilson, Associate County Agent for Caddo and Bossier parishes, will discuss cool-season herbs.

John Monzingo, Assistant County Agent for Claiborne and Webster parishes, will present a program on cool-season vegetables.

Kyleigh Bass, Assistant County Agent for Lincoln and Bienville parishes, will focus on fall color.

Dr. Shakera Williams, NHC Agent for Claiborne and Webster parishes, will provide a food demonstration.

Organizers are inviting area residents to attend the program to learn more about growing and cultivating for the upcoming season.
