Two Homer High School students are leaving a colorful and lasting mark on their community after volunteering their artistic talents to help create a new mural in historic downtown Homer.
La’Marriantae Ball and Cindy Cripe, students in Mrs. Rhonda Porter’s Talented Art program, recently helped paint several of the colorful flowers incorporated into the mural’s design.
The students were among members of the Talented Art program who volunteered their time to assist with the downtown project, combining their creativity with an opportunity to give back to the Homer community.
For Ball and Cripe, the project provided a unique chance to take their artwork beyond the classroom. The flowers they painted will remain a permanent part of the completed mural, allowing residents and visitors to see their contributions for years to come.
Homer High School recognized the students for sharing their talents and taking part in a project designed to add color and character to the historic downtown area.
The new mural can be found beside State Farm and across from the Homer Post Office.
Through projects like the downtown mural, students are not only developing their artistic abilities but also learning how their talents can contribute to and become part of the community around them.
