Haynesville remains undefeated with a win over Plain Dealing

By Shawn White (NWLA Under the Radar)

The Haynesville Golden Tornado (5-0, 2-0) remained undefeated with a 45-8 district win over winless Plain Dealing (0-5, 0-2).

Haynesville’s Isaiah Washington had another stellar night as he didn’t make but six passes but he did the damage when they connected. Washington was 4 for 6 for 117 yards and two touchdowns.  Washington also made a pick-6 for the Tornado squad.  Byruss Burns and JerMarquis Hampton were the receivers on the touchdown passes. Jayden Green and Zykerius Fielding each had rushing touchdowns for Haynesville.

Plain Dealing’s lone score came from Jayden Ray.

Washington started with an interception that was returned for a 43-yard touchdown.  Jayden Green took his turn to reach the end zone on a 23-yard run.  The Golden Tornado reached the Plain Dealing red zone and Washington hit Burns on a 1-yard touchdown pass with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter.  Haynesville carried a 21-0 lead into the second quarter.

Less than a minute into the second quarter Fielding bolted on a 63-yard touchdown burst.  The Golden Tornado took a 28-0 lead into halftime.

Washington let it fly once again and Hampton pulled it down on a 30-yard touchdown pass.  Elijah Bray booted a 27-yard field goal to keep Haynesville rolling to a 38-0 third-quarter score.

Plain Dealing stopped a shutout with a 3-yard run from Jayden Ray.  Haynesville punched it in one more time with a 15-yard run from Hayden Gilbert to give the Golden Tornado the 45-8 win

Haynesville will take a break from district play and put the undefeated record on the line with a road game against the current Division IV State Champions Oak Grove Tigers (3-2).
