On November 13, the Louisiana Department of Education released the 2022-2023 school performance scores for the state’s public K-12 schools and systems. All Claiborne Parish schools maintained the letter grade scored in the previous year with a few minor increases and decreases with Haynesville Jr./Sr. High School having the largest increase.

In 2022, the school scored a 77.7 “B” letter grade. This year they increased to an 82 “B” letter grade.

Claiborne Parish School Superintendent Williams Kennedy said, “Haynesville Jr./Sr. under the leadership of Principal Chris Brooks had the most growth this year, at 4.3 points. This is a lot of growth especially at the junior high grade level.  I would like to thank and congratulate the staff there for their hard work.”

Principal Brooks is happy with the improvement and is confident that all Haynesville schools will continue to grow by providing a quality education to children across all grade levels.

“Prior to Covid, Haynesville Jr./Sr, was rated a ‘B’ school for the first time in history. The last two years the school has continually improved even as the state has raised the bar. The students and staff do an outstanding job and the community support is a huge asset,” said Brooks. “The Haynesville Schools as a whole are a great team and work extremely hard to grow students academically. It’s people, not programs, that promote success and the educators at the Haynesville schools do a great job.”

The overall district performance score increased 0.08 from a 70 “C” letter grade to a 70.8. The statewide average was a 78.5 “B” letter grade.

Kennedy said, “I am very proud of our administrators and the job that they do to support and motivate their staff to provide a quality education to all our kids.  As a parish, we continued to grow in all testing indices and our graduation rate remains over 95%, at 99% this year. We will continue to strive to provide our graduates with the skills and knowledge to be successful whether they choose to join the workforce or continue their education.”
