The Haynesville Golden Tornado is headed to the semifinals for the third consecutive year but won’t have to travel far to try to reach the championship.   No. 4 Haynesville (11-1) will have to travel to Desoto Parish to face the top-seeded Logansport Tigers (11-1).

The Golden Tornado has not appeared in a state title game since 2016 and last won one in 2014.

Logansport’s last title appearance was in 2022 where they fell to fellow Claiborne Parish team Homer.   The Tigers have a bad taste for Claiborne Parish teams in the playoffs as Homer eliminated them last season in the quarterfinals.  Logansport had two titles in 1995 and 2016.

Both teams have only one loss and the teams that defeated them are still alive in the playoffs.  Logansport lost the opening game of the season to Calvary who is playing Isidore Newman in Shreveport.  Haynesville’s only loss this season came at the hands of defending state champion Oak Grove who is on the other side of the bracket up against Kentwood.

After Logansport’s loss to Calvary, the Tigers have rattled off 11 consecutive wins and with the top seed have had the advantage of home games throughout the playoffs including Friday’s game against Haynesville.

The prize on the line will be a trip to the Division IV state championship to be played on Thursday, December 7 at 7:00 pm at the Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans.
