District started in District 1-A and Homer boys started 1-1 for the week with a win over parish rival Haynesville but falling to Arcadia on Friday night. Haynesville bounced back with a road win over Lakeside. Summerfield split for the week also with a win over D’Arbonne Woods and a loss to Choudrant.
The big news of the week was the Haynesville girls basketball team. A team of mostly junior high players captured their first win of the season defeating 2A Green Oaks on Thursday night. Summerfield Lady Rebels won both matchups and now have won 8 of their last 9 games. Homer Lady Pels start the district play with a 1-1 record. They are holding tight to that first round home game for the second week.
This coming week is going to be light with Old Man Winter wiping out the early part of the week’s action. Be sure to check with your school before heading on the riad to support your team. Be safe and careful on the roads.
