HOMER, La. — The Claiborne Parish School Board approved the Central Office and Maintenance Salary Schedules during its June regular session, following a brief discussion regarding pay equity.
Board member Yolanda Coleman expressed concern that all central office clerical staff share the exact same salary despite holding different positions. Superintendent Chris Brooks clarified that the salary differentiation is based strictly on the number of years of service. The schedules passed unanimously.
In other business, the board authorized the appraisal of a five-acre tract of land located at the corner of St. John Road and Buster Johnson Road. The recommendation to begin the appraisal process comes after Superintendent Brooks informed the board that an outside party expressed interest in purchasing the property.
The board also greenlit several major operational bids for the upcoming school year. Food Services Supervisor Ms. Bosby secured approval for upcoming milk, bread, food, produce, and paper product bids. Additionally, the board accepted a 2026–27 fuel bid from Crump Oil at .095 cents per gallon for both diesel and gasoline, and granted permission to surplus a selection of International school buses.
Finishing out the agenda, the board approved a revision to policy EFAA, which governs employee use of social media, and gave a unanimous nod to the 2026–27 Target Schools Incentive Plan. All measures passed with an 8-0 vote following the initial approval of the May meeting minutes.
