HOMER, La. — Prior to last week’s election, Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry visited Claiborne Parish to thank the local officials and staff responsible for preparing for the June 27 election.
During her June 25 visit, Landry met with Claiborne Parish Clerk of Court Brian Flynn and Claiborne Parish Registrar of Voters Tracy Lowery as election workers finalized preparations and conducted testing on voting equipment ahead of Election Day.
The Secretary toured the parish’s election warehouse, where voting machines were being inspected and prepared for use. She also recognized the efforts of the employees responsible for ensuring voters would be able to cast their ballots securely and efficiently.
“Preparing for an election takes weeks of work,” Landry said during the visit. “Voting machines have to be programmed and tested, poll commissioners trained, and countless details handled before voters ever walk into a polling place. I want to thank Brian Flynn, Tracy Lowery, and their entire staffs for their professionalism and dedication to Claiborne Parish voters.”
According to the Secretary of State’s Office, election preparation involves extensive coordination among clerks of court, registrars of voters, poll commissioners, and election workers to ensure elections are conducted accurately and securely.
Landry’s stop in Claiborne Parish was part of a broader tour of Northwest Louisiana ahead of the June 27 election. During the day, she also participated in media interviews encouraging eligible voters to review their sample ballots, verify their voter registration information, and make plans to vote.
The election was held Saturday, June 27, with polling locations across Louisiana open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
State officials noted that Louisiana continues to receive national recognition for election administration and integrity, a distinction they attribute in large part to the work performed by local election officials and staff throughout the state.
The visit served as an opportunity to highlight the often unseen work that takes place before an election and to recognize the commitment of Claiborne Parish election personnel who help ensure the voting process runs smoothly for local residents.
